Experiencing God personally can sometimes feel…hard?!

Hi friend! The space for women who wouldn’t otherwise meet to come together for a weekend and remain connected to one another far beyond the retreat is one of my most favorite details of these retreat weekends BUT today we get to discuss another one of my (equally) most favorite details of these retreats and that is this: the personal experience God gives each of us. It’s one weekend, right? One schedule, one theme but the experiences we personally have are unique and intimate…unique to what God knows we need. I’m so excited to talk about it I couldn’t even wait until the header below…here we go!

Personal Experiences of God

This one today is FUN. We were created to experience God personally but sometimes it can feel…hard?! We are busy, our minds running even when we have a moment to ourselves to catch our breath. These weekends were created with a vision to slow down the pace of our thoughts and the pace of our lives so we could truly and deeply dwell in soul rest.

Most women feel this sudden shift of their soul (a stillness that washes over all of us) the moment they enter our retreat home for the weekend. This is something God put heavy heavy (twice for emphasis) on my heart to pray before the first weekend was ever hosted. God, we pray women would feel the significance and authority of your peace and the stillness of our souls it results in the MOMENT they step foot into our house. That they would be greeted with a welcoming smile (and likely a hug from our host team), help with their bags and a tour to their room. And it happens. We shouldn’t be surprised should we?

The pace set for the weekend, one that is a combination of intentional group time to feel connected and a part of an incredible community of strong and kind women with personal time, is intentional down to every detail. It leaves room for you to feel a part of something (50% of the reason you come join us for the weekend) and also like you’re given permission, without risking the fear of missing out, to go take a moment to be alone on a porch, on the beach or exploring town by foot with a fun drink in hand.

We see women hear God move over their hearts through live worship on the front porch or in the Chapel at Seaside. We find encouragement through the stories shared by other guests and how God is so kindly personal in encouraging them. We all enter the weekend carrying our own longings, exhaustion and hopes. God brings us together to be mutually encouraged but in a deeply personal way. It’s the reason I keep hosting these weekends. It’s an experience that is so specific to the space at these retreats and God delights in seeing His daughters experience Him in this way!

A personal story (one of many) for me is that I like to take time for a quick beach walk just before guest arrival. Sometime the morning of arrival day, I sneak away for a moment alone with God, the sand beneath my feet and the waves ahead. There is a part of the beach just a few minutes from our beach home that is still. No people, a national park to my back and waves ahead. The sun hitting the crystal clear blue water reflecting off the wave covered white sand. Without fail, I’m moved to tears, talking out loud to God about my moment before guest arrival hopes for these women. I pray specifically over each retreat for the 12-months leading up to it but there is something so personal that happens in my heart and private time with God in the moments before I get to meet each of you and spend a weekend watching God move. I’m always surprised by the way God gives me personally a giant hug in that moment. The way He shows me “well done planning, praying, expecting” now watch Me do my thing right before your eyes. I pray God would use me as His hands and feet and He always delights my soul in that moment reminding me how much He cares for ME and how He has a refresh for my soul too, not just our guests or host team I love so much. Our God is personal and He cares deeply. In our carving out time for ourselves and in our obedience to show up to serve others. It’s truly incredible. - Britt

FAQ Answered

Is this retreat for new or seasoned Christians?

Whether you have questions, are new to the Christian faith, have been on a seasoned journey with Jesus, or you resonate with some combination of these, we have a place for you. Our guests always create a safe, welcoming and kind place for all to land for rest, encouragement and to have intimate encounters with our Lord and Savior! This is one of the most precious things to witness retreat after retreat, as a leader. Our guests sit with each other, no matter their background or life experience, and we find hope together!

How often do you release tickets?

Once per year typically in November! Tickets are first-come, first-served. We recommend purchasing your tickets soon to guarantee your spot and accommodation of preference!

Am I the right age to attend?

We love multi-generations. We have hosted guests from ages 21-74.

What are ticket prices?

Ticket prices start at $1,200 and vary depending on your accommodation of preference. Ticket prices are detailed on the retreat ticket page here. All tickets are automatically on our payment plan. Equal monthly payments due the day of ticket reservation and the 1st of each month to follow until paid in full.

Do women travel alone or come with a friend group?

We see a consistent split 50 / 50! Women that travel with a friend typically come with one friend and always have the intention of making new friends. The other 50% travel solo. We are an extremely inclusive group! Our retreat weekend groups quickly become friends and no one knows who came with a friend and who traveled alone within an hour of being together. This is a great retreat for women who are traveling solo.

What will I eat?

We have a chef who will be preparing meals and we also cater! Two meals are on your own where you can enjoy food trucks and restaurants in town that are walking distance from our retreat beach home!

Will I have time to myself? What is the balance of group and personal time?

We intentionally plan our schedule with the perfect balance of organized group time and moments to yourself! Our guests love this about our weekends. You will have plenty of time to be fed (both literally with our delicious meals and with encouragement) but also plenty of time to escape for a beach walk, bike ride, to find a park table to have quiet moments to read or coffee run by yourself or with friends from our group! Everything is walking distance giving you independence in the down moments to enjoy a personal vacation however this looks for you!

What do group times look like?

This weekend is for YOU. We encourage our guests to be a part of the schedule but also want women to come as they are and do what is best for them! For example, if you find yourself wanting moments alone to walk the beach and that interferes with lunch, we encourage you to use this space and time for you. We believe our schedule allows for the perfect blend of group moments and moments alone but encourage women to let this time be what is best for them...however that looks!

How do accommodations work? Where will I sleep?

We offer private king bedrooms, shared king bedrooms (for reservation by one person for two people) and shared twin bedrooms. We also offer day passes if you prefer to book your own overnight accommodation.

What are the options to have a room to myself?

We are excited to be adding a new option for women who want their own room. In 2025, you will be able to reserve a king bedroom at the Watercolor Inn & Resort for one person for $3,000 or $250/payment. You can also reserve a room in the Retreat Guest House for yourself. Those rooms are the same price for one or two women.

What airports do guests use?

ECP or VPS. Guests also drive - we have parking available at the house!

I’ll be back tomorrow, Friday, to share about our destination (Seaside !!!) and the attention God has so clearly put on my heart for the details of our weekend schedule and the general experience God made so clearly to me that was important to Him. Glory to God for His hand guiding my heart retreat-after-retreat to meet the incredible women who walk through that beach home door to experience Him.

I hope you’ll continue to join us this week and be moved at how personal our God is!
