It’s the last day of our “personal retreat stories from Britt” series and we get to put a bow on it chatting about our destination (Seaside, FL) and the details God has always highlighted to me that matter most to Him. The details I mention are special because they aren’t something I typically share publicly like this in written form but instead they are things I pray our guests experience as they step into our weekends. It’s been powerful for me to reflect on these things so I could share them with you today and truly pause and thank God for the ways they have come to fruition. Starting with a whisper on my heart that echoed the “why” God asked me to host retreats, followed by lived experiences by our guests of how God wants to bring those prayers to life personally for each guest. Truly remarkable and only God! Let’s chat more…
Our destination (Seaside, FL) and the details that matter most to God
Our destination (Seaside, FL) and the details that matter most to God
Let’s start with our destination. If you haven’t visited Seaside, FL, let me paint an illustration for you. You are in the car about to pull up to our charming and soul rest inviting beach town for the weekend. You see the main street lined with palm trees, beach homes full of character and people walking and riding bikes at a pace of no hurry or rush. You turn down our street to find a quaint coffee shop, a street lined with boutiques, a breakfast spot and wine bar to be quickly followed by a park with water fountains, water feature streams, gravel lined paths and light strung trees. Now, you lay eyes on our home for the weekend. “Big Blue” as it is endearingly called by its owners, a family from Nashville. The large front porch with tables, a fire place and large swing. Porches really surrounding every side of this 7-bedroom home. Your curiosity, and maybe good nerves, peak as the car comes to a stop and you see women already gathered on the porch laughing with their luggage waiting on check in.
Outside the experience of our retreat home you’ll find white sand covered crystal blue waters just steps down the street off the Watercolor Beach Club, a place with convenient and clean bathrooms, food and pools including the adult pool overlooking the beach. The town of Seaside is just a quick walk away. A place you will find food trucks, book and record stores, boutiques, ice cream shops, coffee, art galleries, the iconic post office and more. Behind town are the neighborhoods lined with houses of character and the Chapel at Seaside. A fun spot to stroll alone or in good company.
Now that you have a vision for the destination and why this town is so important, it’s more easily understood why I felt this town was such a crucial piece to the retreat experience. Not only do I have special spaces to steward inside our retreat home but this town affords us independence to explore and rest, changing up the pace of the weekend to include an additional stillness of being alone and able to explore by foot but not far from our community of women.
Now for the details…here are a few of the details of our retreats God has highlighted to me as areas of focus that deeply matter to Him. It’s most special to me when God shows me He has done the things I’ve prayed for when our guests describe these said experiences verbatim in their post-retreat testimonials. God whispers His will on our heart and it’s powerful when we respond and He shows us His glory! Enjoy reading more about the vision God gave me and how He is showing me “it is finished” through testimonials from our guests.
1. I pray a sense of peace over our guests before they even arrive. An assurance of their heart that this weekend holds something uniquely special for them. One that starts with a personal invitation or tug on their heart to say “yes” that is quickly followed with confidence that they will be in good inclusive company and not have to worry about a detail all weekend - loved dearly not only by what God has for them but how we host!
I can feel that Britt and her team have prayed over the weekend to bless every second and every woman. Thank you Jesus for guiding me to this very special retreat! - Jaclyn (2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 guest)
It was apparent that God made this trip happen for me and I was meant to be there, especially with a theme like mended! - Rachel (2023 guest)
The Holy Spirit directed me to this Seaside Women’s Retreat. - Debra (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 guest)
2. As I’ve mentioned before, I pray women feel greeted with the peace of God and a warm hug by our team the second they enter the home. With help finding their rooms, a refreshing drink and yummy dinner as they enjoy the good friends to surround them all weekend!
I could immediately feel the amazing balance between vacay vibes and peace and rest when I sat on the outside patio for the first time! I felt a shift in the spirit and it brought me peace on the inside of me. I could feel all the prayers that has gone into this retreat that made it such a basking place of His presence and that was what brought the change! - Amelia (2023 guest)
3. Thoughtful hospitality in the form of every detail being “taken care of” before our guests have a need. Water in their rooms, fun surprises on their beds and in their bathrooms. Delicious, fun and nourishing food available all weekend - we don’t go hungry!
I was well taken care of and didn't need to concern myself with anything. - Vanessa (2022 guest)
4. Unique experiences in small group settings to make each retreat truly unique and intimate. Our themes play a big part in this, allowing for God to move personally through the smaller group settings and more 1:1 relationships while also having a larger group setting of corporate worship and encouragement by the varying life experiences represented.
This was the best women's spiritual retreat that I've ever attended! Britt and her team did such an amazing job of planning and preparing all the details (theme, discussions, schedule, worship, meals, music, location) so that I could just show up and receive everything that God had for me that weekend, including time to rest. I met so many wonderful women and loved hearing their stories. - Helen (2023, 2024 and 2025 guest)
5. The balance of staying on schedule with a stillness from our host team. Honoring our time as a group and time alone by keeping to the schedule but God giving us the ability to be present where we are, getting to know each guest and holding the space our group desires to experience.
6. Keeping our guests connected. As we grow, I’ve had more opportunity to explore how this looks through “snail mail buddies” where alumni get to sign up to send a hand written note to one other guest on occasion (Galentines day and Thanksgiving for example) and a Facebook group to stay connected more routinely with encouragement.
The female fellowship is second to none. The attention to every detail makes you feel so special. Britt and her team are simply amazing. Their love of Jesus is so obvious and infectious. Can't wait for next year. - Dana (2023, 2024 and 2025 guest)
Testimonials that couldn’t be divided because they speak to many of these “core values” we have for our vision:
Britt and the Wheat and Honey Co. hosting team provide you with a sense of comfort and make you feel welcome from the moment you step inside the door. The team is detail oriented and caters to the women they serve at the retreat. The women that I have connected with at the retreats that I have attended are truly one of a kind. I have formed genuine, life long friendships. Even from hundreds of miles away, we have remained connected via social media. We check in on one another periodically throughout the year. Each and every one of me women I have met are truly a blessing in my life! The Seaside, Watercolor area has and will forever hold a special place in my heart because of the memories I’ve made there on the retreats! It is such a beautiful place! I am forever grateful for the opportunity to attend the Wheat and Honey Co. Wheatful Women retreats! - Sarah F. (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 guest)
Brittany has a heart for creating a space for women to connect, rest and be pointed towards the Lord. She has achieved that space with this weekend. From the moment you walk in the door, the hosting team is there to take care of you, so you don’t have to think about what you need. It’s all already there, with a smiling, friendly face. This retreat allowed me to take a break from the busyness and responsibilities of my life, renew my spirit with walks on the beach or a bike ride around town, connect with women I wouldn’t have met, and ultimately take a relaxing breath. - Haleigh (2021 and 2022 guest)
