Hi friend! Today is a continuation of personal notes from me (Britt) about some of the most precious experiences God gives us through these retreat weekends. The experiences that go beyond the obvious and are the reason I keep hosting these weekends. Today, I want to tell you about the gift of healthy adult friendship (specifically my personal experience navigating friendship as an adult) and how God holds space for this at our retreats and through our community.
Adult Friendship
Oof. Finding, nurturing and keeping friends as an adult is not something that comes as naturally as it may have in our younger years and I’ve come to find that’s actually pretty beautiful. I went through a season of life, not long ago, that it felt like adult friendship just wasn’t how I wanted it to be in my perfect world. Finding the time I desired to have to invest in knowing and loving my people felt hard with all the responsibilities in my daily routine. I had some friendship hurt to navigate resulting from a realization that said friendships (myself included in the relationship) were not as healthy as I had hoped they were. What have I learned? Adult friendship (and the challenges that come with it) only make it that much more rewarding and life enriching. I’m sitting with the Lord in the things I’ve learned so we can dive deeper together in future months here but for now here are two thoughts:
- Healthy adult friendships lead us to Jesus and they look like Jesus.
- We were not created to do life this closely (the context of “adult friendship” I discuss here) with many. It’s preserved to be done well with a few.
As this business, Wheat and Honey Co., evolves and grows (we will be celebrating 10 years in business next May!) I continue to take the next step in obedience to where God is leading, even and most commonly impactful when I don’t see the end desired result. I share this tid bit here because these retreats are one of those things. They started because I knew God wanted me to say “yes” to Him in this way. As I’m watching a community of women build around them, I’m getting to witness His desire for healthy adult friendship through them. We have a group of hundreds of women (incredible and moving) at this point who have attended our retreats that support one another because of this shared retreat experience whether they attended the same weekend or not. I have also seen this deep healthy adult friendship form between 1:1 connections made that is the type of friendship I mention above that is preserved to be done well with only a few people in our lives. I pray that anyone reading this that desires this type of meaningful friendship would find it THIS YEAR in the name of Jesus. We were created for it and God has it for each of us! - Britt
What to Expect at our Retreats
A Warm Welcome
We pray over every guest and detail. We pray that you would feel seen, valued, and the love of the Lord the second you enter our beach home for the weekend. Our host team is intentionally and prayerfully put together by our founder to be made up of women who carry the presence of the Lord who meet you where you're at.

Simply Show Up & Receive
We take care of everything so our guests are able to rest and not have to concern themselves with any of the everyday decisions they are accustomed to making at home. We plan a thoughtful schedule, meals, times to explore town, and everything you will need during your stay.

A Thoughtful Theme
God speaks a powerful theme and key scriptures over each weekend that we get to spend time digging into and learning from one another. Our weekend theme leads our guest to intimate places with the Lord that we can promise will encourage you in your personal faith walk!

A Blend of Group & Personal Time
We pray about our schedule to create the perfect blend of connection with the group through worship, devotionals and small group time with personal free time to explore the beach, pool club, food trucks, in-town coffee shops, bookstore, and more!

Learn From One Another
One of the most common “favorite parts of the weekend” that our guests share is the opportunity to meet women with varying life experiences and perspectives. Because our retreats have a focus on small group time, our weekends attract women who value learning from one another. It’s really powerful to see women with this common desire come together!

Lifelong Friendships
In our desire to know God more and rest in His presence, the most incredible group of women gather for each retreat resulting in lifetime friendships. It’s really encouraging to watch our retreats be the starting point of rich and meaningful friendships for our guests. We have an alumni group that returns year-over-year and see 1:1 friendships bloom as a result of our shared desire that drew us each to this weekend retreat.
