John 12 Devotional | Living a Life Poured Out

John 12 Devotional | Living a Life Poured Out

Over the past five weeks, we've walked together through John 8-12, watching Jesus reveal His heart, His power, and His invitation to every person who would follow Him. My prayer has never been that you'd simply finish a reading plan, but that you'd know Him more deeply because you've spent time in His Word.

As we come to our final week, we meet Mary kneeling at Jesus' feet, pouring out what was most valuable to her. It's a beautiful picture of wholehearted worship, a life that holds nothing back. My prayer today is that as you read John 12, the Holy Spirit would gently show you what it looks like to love Jesus with that same surrendered heart.

Wednesday, August 5th - John 12

Living a Life Poured Out

"Mary took about a pint of pure nard... and poured it on Jesus' feet." (John 12:3)

Scriptures to Notice

  • John 12:1–8

  • John 12:23–28

  • John 12:24–26

Big Ideas

  • Worship is costly.

  • We often misunderstand extravagant obedience.

  • Seeds must fall before they bear fruit.

  • Following Jesus means dying to ourselves.

Questions to Ponder

  • What am I holding back?

  • What would extravagant love look like today?

  • Am I willing to be misunderstood if it means obeying Jesus?

Thank you for spending these past five weeks with me in the Gospel of John. Whether you've read every chapter or you're just joining today, I hope you've discovered something we can never outgrow: Jesus still speaks through His Word.

As this study comes to a close, don't let your time in Scripture end here. Keep opening your Bible. Keep asking questions. Keep making room to hear His voice. The same Jesus who met people throughout John's Gospel is the same Jesus who meets us today.

May we become women who, like Mary, gladly pour out our lives for the One who first poured out His life for us.
