Have you ever stopped to reflect on how you include The Lord into your daily life?
It wasn’t until I had a conversation with my best friend, that I realized there was still something in my life I hadn’t included Him in. She mentioned that the very first thing she did when she got paid, without thinking twice…even when finances were tight, was to give her tithe.
The peace my best friend had convicted me to my core. I realized that while I thought I was intentional with inviting God into the pieces of my life, I left him completely out of my finances.
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” Malachi 3:10
I finally understood the beauty of God’s abundance once I pursued obedience in taking the step to start tithing. My life began to look differently as my heart shifted to think less about me, and instead fixated first on how God could use me. I started to develop a deeper appreciation for what God had already given me the more I committed to give away. Life became lighter when I released what wasn’t mine to keep in the first place.
Will you choose to invite Jesus into the finances of your life?
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7 (NIV)
He speaks to each of us in special ways for how He desires us to give. Maybe you give to a church. Maybe you give to a charity. Maybe you even give to a friend in need.
Friend, I know that tithing can feel really scary, especially when money is so tight. But know this: however and whatever you feel led to give, we serve a faithful God of abundance who will multiply our gifts because of our obedience.
