I spontaneously took the last two weeks off from our Wheatful Wednesday devotion.
I felt God prompting me to make more space to breathe and navigate the transition that comes with the month of May. It’s busy, right? And summer is just around the bend. Lately, I’ve been working toward a different pace for these coming months, one that feels more intentional for me, for this ministry, and for my family.
Sometimes intentionality doesn’t look like creating the perfect plan or making another list. Sometimes it simply looks like doing the next good thing right in the moment.
What is one thing you can do in the next three hours that would be good for you?
Maybe it’s being mindful of your jaw and releasing the tension you’ve been holding there while you work. Maybe it’s taking a few moments to look up from your computer and let your eyes rest. Maybe it’s getting in bed an hour earlier so you can wake up before the house does and take a quiet walk.
Whatever it is, there is likely something good you can do right now that falls outside your usual routine. And those small “good” things add up.
If we begin now, I think we’ll look back at the end of summer surprised by the small spaces we created for ourselves and how those small spaces became something remarkable.
For me, I often delay good things because I’m so focused on where I’m going. I think, “When I finish this, then I’ll rest. Then I’ll take the walk. Then I’ll breathe.”
But as the saying goes, if we do not rest, sickness becomes our rest.
That’s heavy, but it’s true.
If God’s hand can calm the sea, it can carry us too.
That stress you can’t seem to release. The fear of what may be ahead. God is already there, and He is here now.
There is freedom when we finally set things down and practice active faith, moving with God instead of trying to move ahead of Him.
We move for God’s glory, and because of that, we arrive at places only He can lead us to.
Maybe this is one of those moments where you are being invited to stop, watch, and see that the Lord is good.
Inhale: God is here with me.
Exhale: I can rest in Him.
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
Psalm 46:10
