Week 4 of 4: How to carry the presence of God in a way that positively impacts those around us

Week 4 of 4: How to carry the presence of God in a way that positively impacts those around us

We get to be marked by our belief that God is good, especially when the world looks at us and doesn’t understand why we have a presence of joy and why we have comfort in our hearts (Spoiler: it’s because of God in us).

We are marked by the faith we have when we walk about our days, able to slow down, be present where our feet are, and allow ourselves to be interruptible. We are people eager to move. We want to act when God calls us to something, we want to be on to the next thing before the present thing is completed. We carry the presence of God when we do this well: when we are people of faithful action forward through a presence of stillness, a presence of availability to others.

From my personal experience, I see God most through people around me when people who cannot relate to me sit well with me. Their compassion, their availability, their stillness…I see God. God asks us to have time for people, to show compassion through His presence in us.

Having faith for our friends, carrying the presence of God in a way that positively impacts those around us, requires two things of us:

  1. Confidence in God’s ability to meet us in our weakness with His strength.
  2. Belief that God has the authority and desire to heal and forgive, making all things new.

God first fills us with all the good stuff so we can be a blessing to others. Let’s not get too caught up in the doing of the thing that we forget the moments and our presence as we steward God within us. That is so much more powerful than anything we could be doing outside of letting God actively move and use our awareness of others to make His name, His love, and His peace known.
