Week 3 of 4: The Kingdom Impact of Surrounding our Friends

Week 3 of 4: The Kingdom Impact of Surrounding our Friends

Our pursuit to know God and sit with Him allows us to live lives that are marked by God‘s faithfulness, which is the greatest encouragement that we can have in our friendships.

Jesus frequently encouraged His disciples using words such as “take heart,” and “be not afraid” to strengthen their faith and empower them to overcome adversity, but words of encouragement are not the only way to lead our people back to trust in the Lord. Today on the podcast, we discuss the impact of interceding for our loved ones in prayer, sitting well with our people (often in silence), and the many ways we can encourage them through words, actions of service, and mostly through our lived experiences of God’s faithfulness.

In John 16:33, Jesus states, "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

When we desire to know God and live our lives for His glory, our stories are walking encouragement for those around us. Sometimes we get to share through words, but most of the time our journey with God does all the talking. I encourage you to think today about your journey with God and how it might be an encouragement to those around you.

More to reflect on:

  1. Think about your journey with God. How might your journey with God be an encouragement to those around you?

  2. Who is someone in your life that comes to mind that you want to “surround” well? How might that look right now (interceding, sitting with, encouraging, or some combination of these things?)

  3. What Biblical example from the podcast episode today piqued your interest the most? Why?
