The Fruit of Perseverance

The Fruit of Perseverance
Has life ever left you feeling like you’re running a race? Not just any race. But a race where you’re carrying an extra weight, your patience-tank is nearly empty, and to top it off, there is no finish line in sight?

What weight are you carrying in your race?

Is it the weight that you’ll never get to buy a house?
You’ll never get married? Your fertility stopwatch keeps ticking?
Your goals and dreams never feel “enough”?

Maybe if I only sprint faster, I can obtain the prize in record time.
Maybe if I just give up, it’s easier than feeling like I finished in last place.

How do we keep going when patience feels like it’s running out, and we’re consumed with pressure from all the heavy weight?

This my friend is where perseverance laces up.

“I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14 (NIV)

To persevere is to press on; to press on means a pressure is present. And where pressure is present, God has a breakthrough waiting for you.

The Bible teaches us that when we fixate our sights on Christ as our prize, we will bear the fruit of a renewed strength to persevere through.

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

The races God paves for us all look different. Life isn’t a sprint, it’s one of endurance. Sometimes we need to find peace in being patient with ourselves by slowing down and embracing the pace of a walk.

The only prize truly worth chasing after is Christ and His ordained provision for us. Friend, release the stride toward time-stamped finish lines because Jesus knows the perfect time for each of us to shine.
