God shows us that our greatest belief of His goodness in our lives is POSSIBLE.
Here is what I mean by that: instead of getting caught up in the things that are tangled and not as we desire them to be, what if we prayed believing that those things could be better? When we believe God has “better” for us our hope is realigned to open the door of possibility. It’s hard for God to make things “better” if we don’t believe He can do it. Did that statement hit you as hard as it hit me? We must believe Him for good things to see them happening around us.
When we find ourselves hurt, do we hope and believe that God can make it better?
Think about a hurt you have right now. I know we like to avoid those thoughts, but try to focus on something that leaves you aching right now and talk to God, in faith, that He will make it better. In the name of Jesus, He will make it better. He can. He cares. He is capable.
I was reading in Exodus this morning, learning more about “The Lord my Banner” or “Jehovah-Nissi.” Exodus 17:15 describes Moses building an altar naming it after the Israelites’ victory over the Amalekites. This altar served as a reminder of God’s protection, His leadership through battle. A reminder that God is present and our guide in battle. As I was praying about this theme today of hope in hurt I couldn’t help but connect this Scripture with our theme today. In order to see how God has been present, guiding us in battle, leading us to victory, we have to be looking for it and pausing to praise Him when we see it. Once we open our eyes in faith that He can, we see that He does, which gives us hope in future hurts that He will again.
God, thank you for your faithfulness and for this reminder today to keep our eyes open, in belief, that you are capable of making things in our lives NEW and BETTER. I pray, in no ordinary name but in the mighty name of King Jesus, that each of us reading this devotional together today would declare that we believe you for GOOD THINGS. We believe that you have made things better, you can make things better and you WILL make things better. Thank you for giving us this great hope because of who you are and how you love us. Amen.
