We often interpret discomfort as a sign that something is wrong.
But what if it’s a sign that something is being formed?
When we feel inadequate, stretched, or unsure, our instinct is often to escape it - to fix it, numb it, or prove ourselves capable. Yet Scripture tells a different story.
“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
Weakness is not the obstacle to God’s power. It is the doorway.
Discomfort exposes our limits. And our limits remind us that we were never meant to live self-sufficient lives. Jesus says plainly, “Apart from Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). That isn’t condemnation - it’s invitation. An invitation to abide. To lean. To depend.
The places that feel most uncomfortable may be the very places where He is teaching you to trust Him more deeply.
Uncomfortability is not failure.
It is formation.
Lord, when I feel stretched or inadequate, teach me to lean into You instead of away from You. Let my weakness become the place where Your strength shines. Amen.
