Wheat and Honey Co - Hand Painted Bibles

But he would feed you with the finest of the wheat, and with honey from the rock I would satisfy you. Psalm 81:16 ESV

Four years ago, I sat in a 600 square foot apartment in Dallas, TX with a dream to create a business that encouraged women. I began praying over the idea of starting a stationery company grounded in scripture and felt the Lord reveal Psalm 81:16 to me.

In Pslam 81, the Lord invites Israel to receive the fullest life through not only what we need for nutrients (wheat) but by also receiving the gift of what brings us pleasure (honey).

"Open your mouth wide," he says, "and I will fill it with good things" (81:10). To receive these gifts, the Lord urges us to walk with Him and strive to have a character that reflects Him.

"The finest wheat," in Hebrew, means "the fat of the wheat." Imagine the BEST bread, the most fresh and nutritious baked good around town. Both delicious and healthy for the body. "Wild honey from the rock" adds some flavor, extra delight, to the bread. The honey represents the way the Lord not only offers us nutrients but also a full life of pleasure and delight.

I picked this verse because the words "wheat" and "honey" seemed to be flashing at me. I became interested in the truths this scripture held. I was curious. Through my research and study, I found this verse to be the perfect foundation for the business I wanted to create. Wheat and Honey Co. is a gift to the community of women who walk with Christ. It's a place to understand the gift we have received in our faith and the encouragement to live a life that leads others to the fullest of joy in knowing Him.

Today, I want to leave us with a few questions. I encourage you to walk through these questions in prayer, through journaling or with a close friend. Our God is a good God that wants us to live a life in Him to the FULL.
  • Do you realize that by walking in obedience you gain far more than you leave behind? When we say "yes" to following Christ, when we seek Him in how we act and with the thoughts in our mind, we are protected in a way we could never be if we chose to walk on our own.
  • Are you receiving the gifts of "wheat" and "honey" in your life? Are you welcoming the Lord's blessings of nutrients and delight?
  • Are you resting in the gifts of the fullness of peace, joy, and love that are at your access? Are you living a life receiving and resting in these gifts that allows others to know our good and faithful God?
Lord, we come to you on our knees this morning in great praise of the GOOD God you are. Thank you for teaching us of the full life you have to offer us. I pray that my sisters and I would choose to receive these gifts of nutrients, delight and overall peace, joy and love that you readily offer us. I pray we would live lives that know how to receive and rest in these gifts so that others might see you in the way we show love, acceptance and grace. Lord, we love you and we pray these prayers in your Son's name. Amen.

Compassion Triumphs Pity
Compassion Triumphs Pity

September 13, 2023

We can find biblical hope for this struggle when we consider the story of the Israelites’ exile in the Old Testament. The afflictions of the Israelites’ exile were two-fold. On one hand, they were exiled because of their own sin, and on the other hand, their burdens were increased because of the sin of the nations oppressing them. I am certain that if I were an exiled Israelite, I would have been grumbling and throwing pity parties the majority of the time. How does God respond to them? Throu...

As Christians, the biggest problem with unhealthy comparison is that it misplaces our passion for building the Kingdom of God onto building our own kingdoms of self. Comparison strips us of seeing what God has given us and called us to.
