How Our Daily Actions Can Build Lasting Connections to Christ

"Salmon the father of Boaz by Rahab, and Boaz the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed the father of Jesse, and Jesse the father of David the king..." Matthew 1:5-6

I don’t know what it is, but I get giddy when I find previously unnoticed connections in the Bible. You know, those moments where you see how God has used people, kept promises and advanced His plan throughout history?

Rahab the prostitute from the Book of Joshua who also shows up in the lineage of Jesus (reference Matthew Chapter 1 for the full list) is one of my favorite connection examples in the Bible because it shows how God doesn’t stop using us even when we might feel like something’s done. Each decision we make today can contribute to our purpose on this earth to advance His kingdom, both for today and tomorrow.

•That extra tip you give your waiter can be the spark that lights their fire to do good for others-
•That text or note you write your friend can be the encouragement they need to keep going-
•That Bible or devotion you gift someone can be the anchor for their faith in Jesus, and their eternity in heaven-

•That decision of integrity you made at work or in front of your children can build the character of a future leader-

When you are kind and do good for others, you are doing KINGDOM WORK. God can use your life and the small steps of your legacy along the way to make connections to His purpose that outlast your life.  In our work, in our homes, in our communities, in our local grocery stores, may we remember today that our little acts of kindness have the ability to showcase the life-changing love of Christ. These moments matter!

Weekly Challenge: Do one act of kindness this week that you might not get affirmation or recognition for.

The Spirit of God seals us, sanctifying us away from our old life. We could rephrase today’s Scripture verse like this: Remember, that we were once slaves in our sin and that the LORD our God brought us out of that bondage with a mighty hand and outstretched arms on the cross. May we never forget this truth, sisters. We were powerless and now the power of Christ which saved us, abides in us. God, we remember that we are powerless to deliver ourselves and we thank you for your gracious and pow...

Letting go of my “boast list”
Letting go of my “boast list”

April 10, 2024

Turns out that like Paul, I’m not as “good” as my spiritual “boast list” makes me appear. I had misunderstood the beauty of the gospel- that salvation is based solely on the goodness of God, not the goodness of me. It is God’s grace that produces good works in us, not the other way around. Friend, let this truth dissolve any stock we have in our ability to produce a spiritual “boast list.” It’s been a humbling journey to let go of my “boast list,” but the grace of Jesus is so much better to h...
