A Woman to Admire & Inspire: Deborah

A leader, a judge, a straight shooter. That’s Deborah! Her reputation went before her as passionate about returning the nation to worship of the One true God. She passes along a command from the Lord regarding battle to Barak. In return, he pleads with her to accompany him and she agrees. She goes so far as to say that He will not receive the honor for victory, but a woman will! Sure enough, everything that she predicted came true. I am amazed by how brutally honest Deborah is especially in this era when women weren’t given much recognition let alone authority. Her confidence in the Lord and the gifts that He has given her is astounding. I’m taking notes! 

I often find myself wondering if I am fully leaning into the calling on my life. Let’s imagine that we are having coffee together. I would love to know if you could readily share your gifts and talents ~ and then how you’re currently implementing them? Over the past few years, I feel so grateful that my mentors and friends have been so intentional to call them out in my life and challenge me to move forward. Let’s do that for one another as I have no doubt that Deborah would have! 

Jesus, we know that you have created us with such intentionality. You give us different gifts for unique purposes for your Kingdom. It’s so incredibly sweet to know that you call us by name and desire for us to walk in confidence according to your will for our lives. Help us to recognize these gifts in one another and call them out! We love you. Amen.
