Over the past year, one scripture continued to surface in my life through sermons, podcasts, mentors, and conversation. It was Hebrews 10:24-25 that says “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as the Day is drawing near”.
We were created to be in close relationships with one another. We need each other. There’s an importance of meeting together physically and being present that we so often miss in today’s online & social media driven culture. Let’s put down our phones and open up our homes. Let’s find real connection.
In Seaside, we get to put this into practice. The small groups are designed for encouraging, linking arms, hyping up, sitting in the heavy, celebrating, grieving, challenging, championing, laughing, crying, communicating, ministering, and asking questions. It’s incredibly powerful. Chains are broken, vulnerability is discovered, and truth is spoken. Lifetime friends are found. I’m a living testimony of this myself.
Another one of my favorite things about these small groups is that they demonstrate that friendship can exist in a variety of forms. It can be intergenerational, it can be mentorship, it can be married, single, or anything in-between. We have so much to learn, experience, and benefit from others in different seasons.
