A Prayer of Surrender

A PRAYER - OUR CHOICE TO SURRENDER

God, your will over our agenda. This is the desire of our hearts. We want to know you more, and part of that today is putting our desires down so they do not distract us from the goodness you have for us today. Forgive us for when we so desperately are looking for answers that we forget you have more for us than we can imagine with our limited perspective. Help us to have eyes and hearts that desire all of you, not just answers to our immediate needs. Help us to desire to know you in light of eternity amidst our challenges of this day that are very real and very heavy. Lord, I pray we would find peace today in all you are and all the ways you are ready to meet us with immediate and radical peace that only comes from you. Meet us where we are through our current circumstances and our deep desire to rest in you. Amen.

The remainder of Saul’s family could only assume that with the new King David coming into power, they would all be killed off next, so they fled in fear to become exiles and ene...

Compassion Triumphs Pity
Compassion Triumphs Pity

We can find biblical hope for this struggle when we consider the story of the Israelites’ exile in the Old Testament. The afflictions of the Israelites’ exile were two-fold. On one hand, they were exiled because of their own sin, and on the other hand, their burdens were increased because of the sin of the nations oppressing them. I am certain that if I were an exiled Israelite, I would have been grumbling and throwing pity parties the majority of the time. How does God respond to them? Throu...
